(More customer reviews)I bought this costume from a local Halloween costume shop. I never took it out of the package before I bought it....MY MISTAKE. Although I like the pink/green stripe fabric used for the dress, it has some major flaws.
First, the sizing is way off. I bought a medium for my 8 year old daughter, because the package says "Medium 8-10, for 5-7 years old" (what's with that, anyway?) Well, it was way too wide for her, and the placket of the "V" collar went down way too much. I ended up using my sewing machine to take in 5/8 inch on each side seam and then hand stitched the placket closed about 2 1/2 inches.
Second, the cover of the package (and the photo you see on this ad) shows a pretty white satin bow above the skirt of the dress. This is not what is actually on the dress! On the dress is a 18 inch long strip of ribbed knit material that has been stitched closed (so it's double thickness) that you are supposed to tie into a bow. I tried it. Not only did it look hideous, but the knit is too heavy for the dress fabric and it just drooped. Again, I had to pull out my sewing equipment to remove what they had sewn on and then got a piece of white satin ribbon, tied it in a bow, and hand stitched it on myself.
Lastly, the golf glove does not fit my 8 year olds' hand. It doesn't even fit my hand. They obviously used a pattern for an adult size glove. Then, the glove is made out of flimsy t-shirt material and they didn't even do a decent job of trimming the seam allowance inside to avoid lumpy finger tips. It is not even wearable. I had to pull out a set of white Easter gloves I bought my daugther a couple of years ago and just use those. So disappointing considering what I paid for this costume!
Overall, I love the IDEA of this costume, but it is very poorly made. Be prepared to fix everything that is wrong with it! And I would avoid paying full price for such a travesty.
